Some friends have informed me that Press Releases sometimes end up in their Spam or Junk directory. If you want to receive Timism's Press Releases (past ones), you need to put Timism domain names (Timism.com and Timism.org) in your white list.

Bulk whitelisting is done when a domain manager decides to block for all emails from a domain. I see this in my "Bounce" list. If you want to be a Catalyst, please contact your domain manager to stop blocking Timism Press Releases.

Refinance Loans and reduced workweek

1. If you had all you loans (car, home, credit cards and student) refinanced in a single low-interest loan, would you do it?
2. Would you do it with open-ended profit-sharing payback, that is, part of your paycheck would be allotted for cost of living and half of the rest would go to pay off the loan. You would have 25% for disposable income. There would be no drop-dead bankrupcy or foreclosure.
3. One condition would be converting the time-savings of your reduced workweek from lower cost of living and of loans into volunteer work and on-line learning.
4. It is important to recognize that this process currently exists only it increases rather than decreases the cost of loans, e.g., Sallie Mae, Fannie Mae, and Freddi Mac. These former public services were privatized.
5. Public refinancing of loans during troubling economic times is not without history:
   • Solon (Greece, 6th century BCE) and
   • Sulla(Rome, 1st century BCE).
6. Because Americans prefer to watch sports more than politicians, the politicans have transfered cheap public services to private price-gougers, e.g., vaccines. Americans have only themselves for American Dream becoming the Avoidable Nightmare. Inflation and despair the benefits of the best Congress that money can buy, a Congress that takes a paid holiday while shutting down the economy, eliminating food for the poor and blaming the other party.

Healthcare for Volunteerism and Learning

1. The average person works eight hours of company-based health insurance.
2. Would be willing to volunteer four hours and study four hours and work eight hours less for health care?

These two proposals are the basis of 24in4: By better managing our human resources, we can have a 24-hour workweek in 4 years for more funds and fun in self, family and community in a safer, saner world. From a 1990 campaign for a Congressional seat, "Either we share job time or share jobless crime."

Unemployment is the most expensive social problem, a problem that can be reduced by reducing the workweek. Idle minds are the work shop of the devil. Politicians and economist who call for deficit-spending to increase jobs are harmfuful. They are examples of how the road to hell is paid with good intentions from igknowant people with bad values. Adled minds are the waste shops of politicians and economists.

Most volunteer work will be in the Civil Trinity: education, public safety and fire fighting. The influx of volunteers will allow flip-flop 4-day workweeks for teachers, police and firemen: MTWT ... TWTF. Volunteers will do the dayoff for testing and field trips.

More important than the economic impact of 24in4 is the environmental impact. Every hour of unneeded paid employment is a CO2-sin against Mother Nature. Sharing the available needed work will reduce the progression of climate hell. Work hogs will say no one can tell them they must work less but that is what they are saying to unemployed when the job pigs hog the available work.

Either we share job time or we share climate refugee time.

Mother Nature and central banks indirectly cause a reduced average workweek length. Both cause unemployment which is the worse form of inflation: One's worktime is not cheapened by a monthly inflation rate of 2% or more, but by a one-day 100% cheapening of one's worktime.

Implementing workweek reduction is not a luxury. It is a necessity if we are to save life on Planet Earth, the Primary Moral Imperative.
